Beckett's Birthday Party, and a Baby on the Way

Check out Beckett's shirt.... I am 11 weeks pregnant with our second little baby! Our summer fun was going strong and filled with swimming, bike rides, and hikes...... and then the sickness and fatigue hit. Our summer ended with a lot of TV watching and Beckett playing in the yard while I sat on the porch like a zombie. I think I'm past the worst of it though. I throw up occasionally and I don't have as much energy as normal, but I feel like I am functioning again. I've even managed to cook dinner once or twice without wanting to die.

I feel so much different this time around than the first time I was pregnant. Rather than focusing on the fact that my body is spazzing out of control, I am so excited for Beckett to have a sibling to play with and I know the feeling of holding that precious little baby for the first time after 9 months of torture. The first time around, all I could think about is how awful being pregnant was and how much the epidural was going to hurt. Now those things are just side notes on this very exciting (although tiring) journey.

This weekend we went on our second annual camping trip with our families to celebrate Beckett's birthday. We camped in the Uintas, hiked to Ruth Lake, played in the river, cooked around the campfire, and watched Beckett play in the dirt for hours and love every minute of it. I can't even believe this, but I didn't take a single picture. That is completely unlike me, but lately it takes all the energy I have just to keep Beckett alive, let alone document it. Luckily my Mom took a few pictures. Beckett is such a good little outdoorsman; he slept great in the tent and even cooked his own sausage over the campfire. I love that little guy.

Aww congratulations on baby #2! So exciting! And you're right...it's so funny how different pregnancy is the 2nd time around. There simply isn't enough time to dwell on it and there certainly isn't enough energy to do anything but try to keep the other kid alive and somewhat happy. lol. Hope you get to feeling better soon! :)
