Grateful

Today a friend of mine told me how grateful she is every day for what she has. She is not what most would consider "rich". She doesn't have a giant house or takes fancy vacations.

She has her beautiful children, a husband that adores her, a job, and a house to live in. She couldn't be happier.

My conversation with her has been on my mind ever since. I often find myself thinking about the things I don't have, what I think I need, and what I'm going to buy next.

I may not have the fanciest clothes, the newest car, or a house.

I have more clothes than I need, a great car that is reliable, and a safe and clean place to live. I can turn on hot water, heat, or air conditioning in an instant. I have a job, and it's a job that I look forward to every day. My husband is the love of my life. We have the most wonderful and supportive families. I've never worried a day in my life about being hungry, and I'm as healthy as could be.

I'm embarrassed that I've ever wished for more. After looking at the list of everything I have, I can't believe I ever thought it was lacking. I have it all. We have it all. When we look at our checking account, closet, house, and life, it's easy to see what we are missing. If we just take a minute to stop and really look, it's just as easy to see all that we have.

Sometimes it blows my mind how selfish I can be. It really is important to take time to ground myself. I have SO much that I try not to take for granted, but it's way too easy to get caught up in what we think we need and not look at so much we already have.

Great post. I don't know why it's so hard sometimes to focus on the positive. There is so much to be thankful for.

It's so easy to not recognize all of the things that we are blessed with, and compare ourselves with the things that other people do have. I need to definitely remember to show my gratitude, because really, I am also blessed with so much.

what a great post! it truly is the truth! when you begin to think about all that you really have it is crazy to even complain about what we don't have.

Jamie, this is such a beautiful post. A much needed reminder! I am definitely very grateful for my life, but could always use that little reminder to just stop and enjoy what you already have right in front of you.

Beautifully written.

Hope you are having a wonderful week, Love!
