Some days we're just sitting around watching TV, playing trains, and waiting for dinner to cook. These are the moments that sometimes tick by so slowly for me. I do love playing on the floor with my kids, but I think most moms would agree that even 20 minutes can feel like 4 hours when you're playing Hot Wheels. The saying "The days are long, but the years are short" may be overused, but as someone that has a hard time just relaxing and hanging around the house, it speaks to me. I like to go, do, see, and experience everything, all the time. I don't want to look back and not remember any of the down moments because I was so focused on the exciting moments. I want to remember playing airplane on the carpet and listening to my kids squeal as I lift them up on my feet. Or remember the sound of Beckett's innocent voice when we're sitting on the porch eating popsicles and he says, "Mama?" You're pretty". My heart just melts into an puddle. I'm going to make an effort to use my camera a little more when we're not doing anything; when we're just in our pajamas, cuddling on the couch, reading books, and having tickle fights. I have a feeling some of the times that we aren't "doing" anything, are going to be some of the things I want to remember the most.
