Introducing: Captain Bedhead. Beckett's newest phase is pirates. He wears this eye patch until it makes big dents in his face and roams the house growling, "Arrrgghhh mate!!!" while wildly flinging his sword in the air.
The last few days have been bliss with Nolan. I kept holding off on giving him the medicine for reflux. The stuff just seems so chemically and potent. I was really hoping it wasn't reflux that was bothering him and that it was gas and/or something I was eating. I ate nothing but peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fruit for a few days. We tried probiotics, gas drops, and gripe water. A few nights ago he was in and out of sleeping every 10 minutes from 7:30-11:00. He just seemed miserably. I was near tears because I felt so bad that nothing I was doing was helping him. Mark took a late night run to the store to pick up his prescription. 5 minutes after the first dose he passed out and only woke up once the entire night. That hasn't happened since he was one week old! Since then he has starting napping great and only waking once at night! It could be coincidence, the reflux meds, or the fact that while I was rocking him to sleep I promised him that we would go to Disney Land if he slept longer than 45 minutes. He has now turned into the chillest baby I could wish for.
Now that we know reflux was the problem, I've stopped using probiotics and gripe water. I'm still giving him gas drops each time I feed him because those things seem to work great! You know your life is exciting when your biggest news of the day is that your infant has reached the milestone of being able to pass gas by himself! No need for 2 AM leg pumping sessions!
