23 Weeks Old

It felt like not much changed in months 3-4. I saw some progress and small changes in Beckett, but not as drastic as the first three months. It seems like he has been doing something new every day this past month though and it's so exciting! Every day he sits a little longer than the day before, he laughs more, he's beginning to eat, he drinks out of my water bottle, and he went for his first walk in just the stroller without the Beckett Bucket! And here's just a few other things that have been going on as of late:

Naps
I think he is definitely down to three naps a day now. He rarely sleeps after we get home from work anymore, and doesn't even fall asleep in the car. Because of this I've started putting him to bed at 7:30 instead of 8:00. He has been waking up twice a night the past little bit and I'm not sure why. I'm guessing it's a little growth spurt because he eats a lot before going back to sleep. If he didn't eat much then I would just try to get him to go back to sleep on his own, but I feel like he's growing so much that I don't expect him to sleep through the night (although I do miss those days).

Daylight!
The days are getting longer and my mood is getting better. I feel like once winter hits, everyone just turns into slugs. We eat hearty, hot meals and our bodies shut down by 6 pm. When the sun is out we are outside and active until 9:00 at night and we seem to eat so much better and have more energy! It's warm and light enough when we get home from work that I'm going to start taking Beckett for a walk or jog 2-3 days a week. Even if it's only for 20 minutes I feel like it really helps me physically and mentally. Then when we get home Beckett can have a little tummy time while I stretch.

Tummy Time
Speaking of tummy time.... check out the pictures, he is starting to hold up his head and do really well! After a few minutes he just does a face plant nose smash into the carpet and screams, but we're making progress!

Car Seats
It's starting to be a ridiculous pain to carry Beckett around in his bucket. I think in the next month or so it will be time to invest in a convertible car seat.... well, make that 3. Mark and I switch cars throughout the week; the convertible car seats are not easy to switch in and out like the base for his carrier. And then Shanda will need one for her car since she drives him to and from the school everyday! It's going to be a bit pricey, but I'll make up for it by buying other baby gear at yard sales this summer haha. I just wouldn't feel good about buying a used car seat! I am slightly overwhelmed trying to pick the right one and follow all the rules and guidelines. Luckily I found this chart today, which has been super helpful.

Soy
I found out the hard way that it's not only dairy I need to avoid while breastfeeding, but soy too! I drank some soy milk two days ago, and he was a crazy monster yesterday. I feel horrible horrible horrible. Especially because he spent the day at Shanda's being a grouchy bear! If I would have known it might make him not feel good I would have waited for a weekend to try it, or probably just not tried it at all.

Food
Until tonight Beckett had only licked large vegetables and gagged when I tried to give him tiny bites of something to swallow. Tonight he got really into sucking on apple slices, and went really crazy when we gave him chicken! He was swallowing it no problem, and loving every minute of it.
