Blogs are much faster than writing in a journal. While they do not portray the same personality found in the cover, the pages, the handwriting, and the intimate stories of a journal, typing is much more convenient than writing. What's the point of making a baby book when many mother's write about every funny story, first word and first step their baby has? There are many companies that will print your blog and put it into a book. This is great for long-term keeping, but what if we just keep using the same blog for 50 years? Our children will be able to go back and read every thought and story that was ever shared.
I've never been one for scrap booking, all those time consuming stickers and fancy handwriting make me want to rip up the pages before I ever start. Blogs can be a simplified replacement for scrap books and still serve the same purpose of preserving memories. If you happen to be into all the detail and cutesy pages, you have the much less expensive option of digital scrap booking!
Facebook is like it's own world of memories. Every picture, video, and comment is saved. Is there a limit to how many pictures you can be tagged in? By the time I'm 80 I will have 80,000 pictures of myself! Our grandkids can easily look up hundreds of pictures of us as children so they can comment on our funny hair and nerdy clothes.
I already know little details of people's lives that in all actuality I've only talked to for a total of 5 minutes. That girl that lived above me in college? I know what she ate for breakfast yesterday. And my aunt's cousin's friend's Mom? I know she went on a trip to Europe and what hotel she stayed in. I don't even have to search for these things, they just show up when I log in! Creepy right? And then there's that person you hardly know that always comments on your pictures, but then when you see them in real life they act like you've never met. In reality they know more about you than you might realize.
So.... no need to make time to write in your journal and make a baby book for each of your children. And we might only have one or two pictures of our grandparents, but our grandchildren will have thousands of pictures that will tell them the story of our lives. And those awful slideshows your grandparents made you sit through are history. Our history is currently going down in blogs, Facebook, and online photo albums to be easily accessed for years to come.

I totally agree with that "commenter who acts like they don't know you." So annoying! I saw her and was like, 'Hey! I love your new house! It looks awesome!' And she was like, 'Uh...' and walked away. So weird.
Ahahhaa I know it's so weird! Are you going to the game tonight? I might pretend like I don't know you hahaha
